RECHAZAMOS EL ABORTO PORQUE SOMOS DE IZQUIERDA
Después de las elecciones del 14 de marzo constatamos, una vez más, que no existen enfrentamientos radicales entre unos partidos y otros. Ninguno pone en tela de juicio los fundamentos del sistema socioeconómico actual, el sistema capitalista.
Puede parecer que sólo existe verdadero enfrentamiento de posiciones en un tema: el aborto. Pero a poco que analicemos eso vemos que no es cierto. En los 8 años de gobierno del PP el aborto ha aumentado un 37%, estando próximos a los 80.000 abortos por año. La política del PP en esta materia ha provocado que el aborto se esté utilizando como método de planificación familiar y que “de hecho” se practique el aborto libre en los primeros tres meses de gestación. Zapatero se hará publicidad a costa del PP legalizándolo “de derecho”, aunque no añadirá nada a lo que se venía haciendo. En realidad lo que pretende es ocultar con medidas “pseudoprogres” como la del aborto su alianza con la extrema derecha económica: por primera vez con Zapatero al frente un partido llamado socialista se ha atrevido a proponer explícitamente un programa político y económico neoliberal.
Queremos salir al paso, ante esta confusión propagandística, porque somos izquierda, pero nos oponemos al aborto, a su legalización abierta o subrepticia. Por la misma razón que nos oponemos a todo atentado a la vida: pena de muerte, torturas, hambre, armamentismo, guerras, destrucción del entorno natural… Sostenemos que la equiparación de izquierda y permisividad ante el aborto es, primero, una mentira de hecho y, después, una contradicción absoluta con los valores que toda la izquierda debe defender.
Nosotros somos izquierda, somos socialistas – de una u otra vertiente del socialismo-, porque defendemos, sin reservas ni dilaciones, la socialización de los medios de producción, porque luchamos contra cualquier explotación del hombre por el hombre, del imperialismo sobre los pueblos. Pero también porque defendemos la vida humana como valor supremo, porque sostenemos que nadie, en nombre de nada, puede suprimirla. Y creemos que precisamente encontrar pretextos y argumentos para suprimir vidas humanas es un signo distintivo de la derecha.
En el mundo han sido innumerables veces regímenes de derecha, supercapitalistas, los que han legalizado el aborto. Han sido hombres como Robert McNamara -el del Vietnam y el Banco Mundial, quienes más han impulsado la aceptación del aborto, los que lo han impuesto como algo conveniente para el dominio del capital multinacional. Hitler lo negó para su «raza» aria, pero lo impuso para los demás bajo su dominio.
HAY VIDA EN EL ÓVULO FECUNDADO
Es una falacia la equiparación izquierda-aborto. Y es también, más aún, una enorme contradicción: hay vida, y vida humana personal en el óvulo fecundado que anida en la madre. Y se destroza una vida humana – casi siempre con procedimientos de una horrible crueldad para el feto humano que siente- al destruirle. No es parte del cuerpo de la madre: es un ser humano distinto. Y como tal ser humano tiene sus derechos: tanto como los ancianos, como los minusválidos, los subnormales, los incurables, lo «antisociales», todos aquellos a los que la permisión del aborto pone en la lista de los futuros condenados, porque no se les va a considerar personas humanas con derecho a la vida, sino partes molestas de una sociedad que no les desea.
No hay en nuestros días una afirmación más reaccionaria -contra todo lo que se diga- que la del derecho de una persona sobre la vida del hijo no nacido. Es el derecho de propiedad más absoluto concebible, más allá del derecho del amo sobre el esclavo. Y es una vergüenza para la izquierda que levante la bandera del ese pretendido derecho. Y más aún, que se deje a la derecha, por fines electoralistas que su meollo de poder económico no siente en absoluto, que monopolice hipócritamente la oposición al mismo.
Nosotros rechazamos esa postura vergonzosa, de la que la izquierda, en la medida que han avanzado los conocimientos de la embriología, tiene que liberarse. No sólo somos izquierda y rechazamos el aborto, sino que lo rechazamos precisamente por serlo. Se trata simplemente de la aceptación del hecho científico de dónde empieza la vida humana, con todas sus consecuencias.
Es necesario que nos planteemos con valentía y rigor de una vez ese tema en la izquierda: la vida humana es un valor supremo desde la concepción hasta la muerte natural. Y a partir de esta afirmación tenemos que desarrollar una acción decidida contra el hecho real del aborto combatiendo las causas, ayudando eficazmente a las familias, asistiendo legal y socialmente a la madre soltera, tanto a la que desee quedar con su hijo como a la que quiera darlo en adopción. Es un campo inmenso de trabajo, en el que la izquierda debe multiplicar esfuerzo sin el fariseísmo de la cúspide económica de la derecha.
El aborto es un odioso acto de violencia realizado contra los no-nacidos y contra las madres. La izquierda debe hacer que el vientre de la madre sea el lugar que la naturaleza ha hecho que sea: el lugar más protegido. Y que la sociedad entera lo sea también, para la madre y para los niños, antes y después de nacer..

WE ARE AGAINST ABORTION BECAUSE WE ARE LEFT-WING
It may seem that there only exists real disagreement on one topic: abortion. However, it does not take a thorough analysis to realize that this is not so. In the 8 years that the PP ruled, abortion rose by 37%, and there are presently nearly 80.000 abortions a year. PP´s policy on this subject has caused an increase in abortion being used as a family planning method. As a matter of fact, abortion without restrictions can be carried out during the first three months of pregnancy. Zapatero will get publicity at the PP´s expense by legalizing it, though this will not differ significantly from what has been happening so far. In fact, the real intention is to hide PSOE´s alliance with the radical economic right-wing by using pseudo-progressive measures such as the legalization of abortion. This is the first time that a so-called socialist party, headed by Zapatero, has explicitly put forward a neoliberal economic and political program.
Due to the the confusion provoked by the current deluge of propaganda, we need to make it clear that it is because we are left-wing that we strongly disapprove of abortion, and its overt or surreptitious legalization. Likewise, we are against any assault on life, such as death penalty, torture, hunger, armament, war, destruction of the environment… We therefore proclaim that associating the left-wing with abortion´s «legitimacy» is first and foremost a lie, and in addition, it directly contradicts the values that the Left vindicates.
We are left, socialist, because we categorically and unequivocally defend the socialization of means of production, because we fight against any form of exploitation of human beings, because we are against the oppression of the people by any imperialist power. But also because we defend human life as a supreme value, and we claim that nobody, in anybody´s name, can put an end to it. Moreover, we believe that it is a distinctive feature of the Right to find arguments and excuses to eliminate human life.
There have been countless times that super-capitalist right-wing regimes have legalized abortion in different parts of the world. People, such as Robert McNamara – from Vietnam – and the World Bank, have goaded abortion acceptance. They have imposed it as something convenient for multinational capitalist dominance. Hitler rejected it for his aria «race» but enforced it for those under his rule.
There´s life in the fertilized ovule
Relating abortion to the Left is a commonly held misconception. However, it is above all a contradiction: there is life, a unique human life in the fertilized ovule. In most cases, when an abortion is carried out, this life is destroyed by using the cruelest methods, which are suffered by the foetus. It is not just another part of the woman´s body, it is a unique individual, and as a human being, it has its rights, the same as elderly people, the handicapped, the mentally disabled, the terminally ill. All those people that would be included on a list of future targets by accepting abortion, because they might not be considered human beings with a right to live, but instead bothersome, unwanted members of society.
Despite whatever may be said, there is not any more reactionary claim than a person demanding a right over an unborn child. It is the most inconceivable claim of property. It is a shame that the Left should defend this so-called right. Moreover, in doing so, they are letting the Right, who by pursuing their own electoral interests and without actually caring about it, hypocritically monopolise the opposition to it.
We absolutely reject this shameful vindication, and considering the currently existent knowledge about embryology, the Left should not support this position. We are not only left-wing and we reject abortion, but also we are against it because we are left-wing. This only means accepting scientific information that determines where human life starts, and its consequences.
It is necessary for the Left to reconsider this issue with courage and rigour, human life is a supreme value from its conception to natural death. In line with this, we must take measures against abortion by fighting its causes, by assisting single mothers socially and legally in an efficient way, those who want to keep their children as well as those who decide to give them up for adoption.
Abortion is an atrocious violent act against unborn children and their mothers. The Left should fight to make women´s wombs the safest place for children, because this is naturally so. Likewise, society as a whole should protect mothers and children, before and after their birth.
